Details and examples from Products and teams I've led

My Work

The case studies and overviews below represent some of the most significant things my teams and I have designed, shipped, and scaled.

Ozmo

Ozmo is a B2B SaaS company providing enterprise tech support solutions for connected devices. Their platform serves two distinct audiences simultaneously: enterprise clients managing support operations, and the millions of consumers those clients serve. I joined as Director of Product Design and built the design organization from 0 to 5.

Overviews of the product family I lead at Ozmo

As Director of Product Design at Ozmo, I led design strategy across the full product portfolio, founded and scaled the design organization, and introduced research and discovery practices that became the company-wide standard.

I partnered with Product, Engineering, Research, and Customer Success to shape roadmap direction and enterprise outcomes, and was regularly sought out by executive leadership to contribute to strategic planning through design storytelling.

My team shipped two flagship products with measurable impact. The Conversational AI Assistant delivered 400% more tech support answers to self-serve users, andRemote Video Support drove a 300% lift in agent engagement while opening a net-new revenue vertical contributing to $14.7M ARR.

Both required designing across two distinct user populations simultaneously: enterprise agents on one side and consumers on the other, each with different mental models, workflows, and expectations within a shared platform.

Beyond the products themselves, the research and discovery practice my team introduced reduced research cycle time by 66% across 15 or more strategic initiatives, and was adopted as the organizational standard across the company. The design culture we built maintained near-zero voluntary attrition over five years.

Block.one

Block.onewas a blockchain technology company building the EOS public blockchain protocol, with ambitions to launch multiple consumer and fintech products on its network. I joined as an early team member and helped build the design organization during a period of hypergrowth that took the company from a small founding team to 400 or more employees.

Dive deeper into the Voice App

As Product Design Manager at Block.one, I built the design team from 2 to 7, led design across three simultaneous product lines, and established a coded design system that held the product experience together as the organization scaled.

I championed data-driven design practices, introduced a company teaching program, and built recognition mechanisms that contributed to a strong design culture through rapid growth.

The products my team designed spanned genuinely novel territory. Voice was a blockchain-native social media platform built on the premise that every user was a verified real person, with an in-app token economy that rewarded quality content and genuine participation.

Bullish, which began as an internal crypto exchange and is now a publicly traded company, required designing for institutional and retail traders simultaneously within a single native iOS and Android platform, with payment flows, identity verification, and access management as first-principle design challenges.

A crypto wallet product rounded out the suite, each requiring a distinct approach to trust, clarity, and financial-grade interaction design.

Exadel

Exadel is a global custom software consultancy with teams across the US and Eastern Europe. I led product design out of the Boulder, CO location, working with an international portfolio of enterprise clients across financial services, government, publishing, and startup product development.

As Director of Product Design at Exadel, I operated in a forward-deployed consulting model: embedding with clients, leading discovery workshops and usability research, translating complex business requirements into functional UX and technical workflows, and building the executive alignment that made transformation initiatives actually land.

I introduced product discovery and validation practices that reduced rework by 3 or more weeks per client engagement, and advocated for human-centered design at the C-level across a client portfolio that had not previously treated design as a strategic input.

The work spanned enterprise financial platforms, a major toll road operator's image processing software, a scientific journal publishing system, and the Exadel brand redesign itself. Across each engagement, the design challenge was the same: make something genuinely complex feel clear, trustworthy, and usable to the people who depended on it daily.

Virginia Tech Faculty

A career-long commitment of mine has been mentoring and developing designers at every stage of their career. Opportunities to teach at Virginia Tech have been the most sustained expression of that commitment.

As an adjunct faculty member at Virginia Tech's School of Visual Arts, I have taught UX, HCI, Design Thinking, and User Research across selected semesters spanning 15 years. My students have included design majors deepening their craft and students from external majors like engineering and computer science, encountering user-centered design thinking for the first time.

☞ Before moving into product design, I spent over a decade as a Senior Art Director at advertising agencies across the country, working with clients including Gatorade, Pepsi, Mtn Dew, Chiquita, 3M, and Vans Foods. That chapter built the visual craft, conceptual thinking, and communication skills that I carried into every product role that followed. You can read more about that transition on Medium.

I was fortunate to work for clients spanning industries and verticals - companies like Gatorade, 3M, Chiquita and more.

Leading up to this point in my career I made a distinct shift over to Product and haven’t looked back. I knew I was more passionate about building something constructive and contributing to society more positively than what advertising had afforded me.

Motive

Motive is an experiential advertising agency based in Denver, CO, known for conceptually driven campaigns and brand work for major consumer clients.

At Motive I served as the creative lead on all digital and interactive projects, working with clients including Gatorade, Pepsi, Mtn Dew, Vans Foods, and Amp Energy.

I evolved and shaped a UX and information architecture practice within a creative agency environment, building prototypes, mapping user journeys, and applying interaction design principles to digital campaigns at a time when those practices were not yet standard in advertising agencies.

Concept development and pitch work were a constant, and mentoring younger designers was a priority throughout.

Proof

Proof is an advertising agency in Austin, TX, with a reputation for strategic creative work across traditional and digital mediums.

As Senior Interactive Art Director at Proof, I led digital and interactive work for clients including 3M, Huawei, and the San Antonio Convention and Visitors Bureau.

I oversaw UX and information architecture across all digital projects, introducing usability testing, persona development, and prototyping into a traditional agency workflow. Mentorship of junior designers was a consistent part of how I operated.

Modea

Modea is a digital agency based in Blacksburg, VA, that began as a tech support software company building phone emulators and simulators before evolving into a full-service interactive agency. It is where I built my digital roots and, while earning my MFA at Virginia Tech, developed the foundation for everything that followed.

At Modea I moved through several roles: starting as a mentor and trainer to junior designers, moving into a design management position, and ultimately landing as an Interactive Art Director leading a range of projects from website design and information architecture to video production.

The formative value of this chapter was learning to think about digital experiences as systems rather than as individual screens, a perspective that has shaped every role since.
