My Work

Ozmo

Ozmo is a SaaS provider in the tech support space. Ozmo’s software supports both tech support agents and consumers seeking self support. Ozmo specializes in building representative virtual devices, instructional content and remote video sharing capabilities.

Overviews of the product family I lead at Ozmo

As Ozmo's Director of Product Design, I lead strategy, mentor staff, and influence product outcomes. My team collaborates and advocates across departments to achieve desired results across Ozmo’s family of products - including Ozmo for Agents and Ozmo Self Support.

While at Ozmo, my team and I have successfully introduced a Remote Video capability, leading to a new revenue stream. Additionally we launched a support focused conversational AI assistant for Self Support, leading to Ozmo's first ability to discuss and engage on support issues with end users.

User research and testing validate business goals. At Ozmo, we offer both in-depth discovery and quick checks to support decision-making. I foster a fun, collaborative design culture across product teams, with consistent delivery and future-forward thinking.

At Ozmo, I continue to advocate for a collaborative, innovative culture founded in trust across teams and roles. In other words, software shouldn't be boring - and it isn't. But to spur creativity, we have to be constructive and supportive to foster safe places for true creative ingenuity.

Block.one

➥ During my days at Block.one, the company had recently formed around an ICO - EOS. The startup crypto company was attempting to introduce innovative blockchain apps on a fresh development network while invigorating a growing community.

Dive deeper into the Voice App

As the Design Manager and an early member of Block.one, I built and grew a strong, collaborative design team through my passion for mentorship and leadership. My focus was to ensure communication, unblock my team, and support their success.

At Block.one I led the team through innovative blockchain products, including wallets, exchanges, and social media. I collaborated closely with Engineering, Product Management, and Program Management to define, design, and develop products, while prioritizing user experience and refining processes.

We successfully took several initiatives from 0 → 1, including Voice - a social media platform built on Blockchain tech, a crypto wallet, and an exchange that would eventually become Bullish.

During my time at Block.one, I championed data-driven design, design's role in product development, and design systems built from coded components. Culturally I fostered a weekly company teaching lunch and introduced internal recognition mechanisms.

Exadel

➥ During my time with Exadel, the global company tackled custom software at various scales of size and complexity. I worked as a Design Leader out of the company's Boulder, CO location.

At Exadel, I led a team of Product Designers for almost 2 years as a Director. Collaborating closely with App and Front End Developers, we executed projects from strategy to UX, spanning native applications to enterprise solutions.

During my time at Exadel, I folded Front End into Design, boosting efficiency, and worked with potential businesses on App concepts, creating materials from Investor decks to interactive demos.

My team introduced Product discovery and validation testing processes, utilizing research and prototyping. As always, I fostered a design culture of continuous learning.

Virginia Tech Faculty

A career-long passion of mine has been serving as a mentor and constructive sherpa to others in the design field. As an outcome of receiving my Masters years ago, I have had the opportunity to teach several courses at Virginia Tech.

As an adjunct faculty of the School of the Visual Arts at Virginia Tech, I've taught both Design-focused students the merits of UX and Digital Design and also introduced User Experience Design concepts to non-design curriculum students.

☞ Before working in Product and software, I worked in several Advertising Agencies around the country where I led interactive and digital projects. Read about my journey from Advertising to Product on Medium.

I was fortunate to work for clients spanning industries and verticals - companies like Gatorade, 3M, Chiquita and more.

Leading up to this point in my career I made a distinct shift over to Product and haven’t looked back. I knew I was more passionate about building something constructive and contributing to society more positively than what advertising had afforded me.

Motive

Motive is an energetic, experiential Advertising Agency based in Denver, CO. Motive works on shaping campaigns and pitches for a roster of existing and potential customers.

In Denver I worked at an ad agency called Motive. At Motive I served as the creative lead on all digital projects and also got involved in all mediums of advertising, with clients such as Gatorade, Pepsi, Mtn Dew, Van's Foods, Amp and many more. I ensured all digital and Interactive projects were addressed in proper UX and IA fashion, building prototypes, plotting architectures and User Journeys and implementing modern best practices in Product and Web design to ensure usability.

Motive is heavy on the conceptual side, and I was constantly involved in pitch work, cranking out ideas. As with every former position, I've taken every opportunity to mentor and guide younger designers and Motive was no different.

Proof

Proof is an advertising agency in Austin, TX. Proof supports a spectrum of advertising needs across traditional mediums - servicing a roster of clients while actively pitching for new ones.

In Austin while working at Proof I was responsible for leading Digital and Interactive projects and campaigns for clients such as 3M, San Antonio CVB, Huawei and more.

As the Senior Interactive Art Director, I was not only involved from concept to completion of several projects, but I was also able to mentor and guide younger designers. Here I oversaw proper UX, IA design and architectures, using Prototyping, Personas, User Testing and other proper UX processes to ensure a good experience for the Users.

Modea

During the time that I worked at Modea, it was truly going through several growth spurts. Modea began in a tech support space, producing groundbreaking phone emulators and simulators. Soon after I joined, Modea began shifting its identity towards an interactive ad agency.

I formed my digital roots in the cozy corner of Southwest Virginia. Among several positions within the company and obtaining my Masters Degree, I worked at a digital agency called Modea.

While at Modea I filled several roles. I began as a mentor and trainer to younger designers, helping them with their knowledge and efficiencies in workflow and software. I also served in a management position where I oversaw a small team of designers while continuing to mentor their design and workflow habits and finally gravitated towards an Interactive Art Director role. Within this role I worked on numerous projects spanning from website design and architecture to video spots and shorts.
